What we collect
When you scan a QR code on an OfflineScreen bag, we record the scan event. If you grant GPS permission, we record your approximate location to verify the scan is genuine. We record a hashed (one-way) version of your device fingerprint and IP address — never the raw values. We never collect your name, phone number, or email unless you voluntarily provide them.
How we use your data
Scan data is used to count impressions for advertisers, calculate kirana store earnings, and detect fraudulent scan patterns. Location data is used solely for fraud detection (to ensure bags are being scanned by genuine customers, not store owners). We never sell your data to third parties.
Data retention (DPDP Act 2023)
In compliance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, raw IP addresses are anonymised after 30 days. Device fingerprints are hashed after 30 days. Scan event records are retained for platform analytics but are not linked to identifiable individuals after anonymisation.
No third-party trackers
The scan page (s.offlinescreen.com) has no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, and no third-party tracking scripts. The only network requests made from the scan page are to OfflineScreen's own API.
Advertiser data
Advertiser business information (name, GST, contact details) is used to operate the platform and generate GST-compliant invoices. It is never shared with other advertisers or third parties.
